You want to become a sailing or surfing instructor because you are enthusiastic about this sport and want to pass on this enthusiasm to others? This is the course for you.

Course description

Intensive training in theory and practice. This course lays the foundations for you to become a good sailing or surfing instructor.

Prerequisites: C Licence

To take part in the C Licence sailing course, you must hold the BFA-Binnen (formerly the A certificate), have very good sailing skills on a dinghy and be able to swim.

For the C Licence surfing course , very good surfing skills, swimming ability and a basic surfing certificate are required.

Minimum age: 16 years (15 years to take part in the course)

Requirements for the B licence

C Licence and a 3-week work placement at a WSVO school

Dates for 2026/2027

C Licence (4 days): this licence is valid for 3 years from the date of the exam – 3–4 April and 10–11 April 2027;

B Licence (week-long course): Autumn: 5–11 October 2026 (venue to be confirmed)

Price for C licence: €330.00 + €30.00 examination fee

Price for B licence: approx. €680.00 including examination fee

Minimum number of participants: 4 per course

C Licence: The exam takes place on-site at the Segelschule Neusiedl – we will arrange the date together

B Licence: examination by an examination board
